Role overview

This is a founding-level Product Engineer role on the Engineering team of a fast-growing European AI communication startup, building an AI phone assistant used by thousands of SMEs across Europe. You'll take end-to-end ownership of product features — from hypothesis and prototype all the way to production — sitting at the intersection of engineering, product thinking, and customer insight.

Responsibilities

  • Own features end-to-end, driving them from initial hypothesis through experimentation and into production.
  • Lead product discovery by designing and running rapid experiments to validate ideas before committing to full builds.
  • Maintain close, recurring contact with customers, partners, and the Sales team to surface and prioritise real pain points.
  • Design and implement tracking and analytics to support data-driven product decisions.
  • Build across the full stack, contributing to architecture decisions and seeing them through to release.
  • Balance pragmatic short-term validation with long-term scalability in every solution.
  • Take radical ownership of initiatives and move them forward autonomously.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in Product Engineering, delivering end-to-end software features.
  • Strong full-stack skills across Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS, and React.
  • Experience integrating software with external systems such as CRMs, calendar tools, and databases.
  • Ability to identify, track, and act on relevant product metrics to drive decisions.
  • Experience gathering customer feedback and translating pain points into product improvements.
  • Native-level German proficiency — essential for supporting a German-language product.
  • Fluent English for team and internal communication.
  • Comfortable in remote-first, async-heavy work environments with CET timezone overlap.
  • Deep product mindset — ownership extends well beyond writing code.

Nice to have

  • Experience with AI/LLM integration (e.g. working with large language model APIs) is a strong advantage.
  • Familiarity with GDPR compliance and EU AI Act considerations is a plus.

Benefits

  • Equity participation
  • Fully remote work with optional office in Vienna, Austria
  • Remote‑first, async‑heavy environment with CET overlap

Additional details

  • Compensation: €80,000 – €120,000 annually, plus equity. No visa sponsorship is available for this role.
  • Location: Fully remote, with expected overlap in Central European Time (CET). An optional office in Vienna, Austria is available.
