Role overview
The Hitachi Energy India Development Centre (IDC) is a Research and Development hub with around 500 engineers, specialists, and experts focused on developing and maintaining technology, products, and digital solutions, including product integration, testing, cybersecurity, and certification. The IDC is located in Chennai and Bangalore, with product test labs spanning 20,000 sq.ft. As a Business R&D Experienced Professional, you will work in Product Integration and System Testing, with expertise in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agile testing, and test management tools like TFS/MTM and Azure DevOps.
Responsibilities
- Act as a Substation Automation & SCADA Domain Consultant.
- Apply knowledge of Substation Automation and Network Control Engineering concepts and solutions, including Power System knowledge.
- Develop, deploy, and maintain a SCADA system.
- Contribute to IEC61850-based engineering concepts and solutions for application in IED Configuration Tools.
- Possess knowledge of MicroSCADA, Substation Automation, any 3rd party SCADA, and IEC61850.
- Test SA Communication protocols such as IEC60870-5-103, IEC 61850, DNP3, IEC60870-5-101, and IEC60870-5-104.
- Contribute to functional documentation and review.
- Coordinate technically with stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering.
- 3-6 years of experience in system integration, verification, or quality assurance in power systems.
- Knowledge in Engineering or development of products/components for Substation Automation/SCADA System/Numerical Protection/Process Automation/Power Management Systems/Energy Management Systems.
- Knowledge in Implementing or Engineering with Communication protocols: IEC61850.
- Experience in product integration and system testing.
- Experience in all phases of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile testing.
- Experience with test management tools like TFS/MTM and Azure DevOps.
- Ability to be a team player and understand/optimize architecture and design aspects from a Domain perspective.
- Proficiency in both spoken and written English language.
