Role overview
The Testing & Configuration Engineer role in the Grid Automation Business Unit, based in Peenya, Bangalore, is a member of the utility communication networks portfolio. The engineer will leverage strong fundamentals in RF and fiber‑optic networks for PLCC & FOTE communications, contribute to the testing team of Grid Automation Systems, and support integration and delivery of turnkey projects.
Responsibilities
- Design and troubleshoot network solutions.
- Engage with customers and resolve queries during Customer FAT.
- Demonstrate integration of various technologies to deliver turnkey projects.
- Configure Linux and Windows based servers for Network Management System (NMS).
- Prepare network configurations according to the channel plan.
- Understand and support applications/services such as tele‑protection, tele‑operation, telephony, and data communication.
- Follow key processes including test procedures, timesheets, and STAART meetings.
Requirements
- Graduate degree in Electronics or Electronics and Tele‑communication Engineering.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in network planning.
- Strong knowledge of various modulation techniques, SDH/PDH network standards, and MPLS‑TP networks.
- Knowledge of L2 and L3 network devices.
- Hands‑on troubleshooting experience in a network environment.
- Good understanding of networking schematics.
- Competency in networking and configuration of managed Ethernet switches.
- Knowledge of power systems.
Nice to have
- Experience with RF and fiber‑optic networks for PLCC & FOTE communications.
