Role overview
Hitachi Vantara is seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Solutions Engineer to bridge the gap between complex cloud infrastructure technologies and real‑world customer solutions. In this role you will design, build, and implementation‑test cutting‑edge platform architectures that blend traditional virtualization with modern cloud‑native ecosystems, working closely with engineering teams and enterprise customers to architect, automate, and deploy resilient infrastructure stacks across bare‑metal, virtualized, and containerized environments.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement robust infrastructure solutions leveraging both container orchestration (Kubernetes) and traditional cloud computing platforms (OpenStack).
- Automate the provisioning, configuration, and management of complex environments using Terraform and Ansible to ensure repeatable, error‑free deployments.
- Bridge the gap between legacy VMs and modern containers by deploying and managing KVM and Kube‑virt solutions.
- Write clean, maintainable Python and Bash scripts to automate routine tasks, build internal tools, and integrate disparate systems.
- Optimize and troubleshoot core compute resources, storage architectures, and networking layers to ensure high availability and performance.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor to stakeholders, translating complex infrastructure requirements into scalable engineering designs.

- Work closely with engineering teams and enterprise customers to architect, automate, and deploy resilient infrastructure stacks across bare‑metal, virtualized, and containerized environments.
Requirements
- Deep, production‑grade experience with Kubernetes orchestration, architecture, and ecosystem tools.
- Proven track record of deploying, configuring, and managing OpenStack components.
- Strong understanding of kernel‑based virtual machines (KVM) and experience running traditional virtual machines inside Kubernetes clusters using Kube‑virt.
- Proficiency in Python and Bash for system automation and tool development.
- Hands‑on experience with Terraform for provisioning.
- Hands‑on experience with Ansible for configuration management.
- In‑depth knowledge of physical/virtual compute resource management and optimization.
- Strong understanding of storage technologies, including Storage Area Networks (SAN) and local disk technologies (NVMe, SSD, RAID configurations).
- Solid foundation in networking concepts, specifically Layer 2 (L2) and Layer 3 (L3) protocols, switching, routing, and software‑defined networking (SDN).
