Role overview
As part of a global enterprise technology team, you will contribute to building robust, scalable, and high-performance enterprise applications using Node.js, working with modern backend technologies, following industry best practices, and developing secure, maintainable, and efficient software solutions. You will work in a collaborative Agile team comprising Architects, Technical Leads, Scrum Masters, Business Analysts, Developers, QA Automation Engineers, and DevOps experts, reporting to the Team Manager.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and services using Node.js.
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and integrate backend services with databases and external systems.
- Write clean, reusable, maintainable, and efficient code following industry best practices.
- Implement secure and high-performance backend solutions.
- Write automated unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and reliability.
- Participate in code reviews and follow continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices.
- Contribute to application architecture and technical design discussions.
- Work with relational databases, optimize queries, and ensure efficient data management.
- Troubleshoot backend issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and technical discussions.
Requirements
- 3–4 years of hands-on experience in backend development using Node.js.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
- Experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs.
- Good understanding of asynchronous programming, event-driven architecture, and Node.js fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience with SQL databases, data modelling, and query optimization.
- Strong fundamentals in OOP, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
- Experience writing automated unit tests using Jest, Mocha, or equivalent frameworks.
- Understanding of authentication, authorization, error handling, and backend application security.
- Ability to write clean, modular, reusable, and testable code.
- Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within an Agile team.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Knowledge of Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment processes.
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Exposure to Docker, containerization, and cloud-based application deployment.
- Understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Agile engineering practices.
- Familiarity with caching, message queues, application monitoring, and performance optimization.
