Role overview
The Manager (Data & AI) for Technical Solutions Engineering leads and expands a regional team of Data & AI experts in India, ensuring resiliency and smooth operation of customer production workloads across APJ and EMEA business hours. The role focuses on resolving complex data engineering use cases, optimizing performance, and partnering with customers and internal product teams to drive successful adoption of Databricks platform features.
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow a regional team of Data & AI technical experts in India, providing resiliency and smooth operation of customer production workloads.
- Oversee support operations during APJ and EMEA business hours, coordinating with global teams to ensure 24x7 coverage.
- Resolve complex and long‑running data engineering use cases raised by Databricks customers, including performance optimization, production job resiliency, and workload stabilization on new products and features.
- Serve as the Tech Solutions Manager for an elite team of Data & AI specialists covering customers across EMEA & APJ business hours.
- Grow the technical expertise of the team to support successful adoption of new Databricks platform products and features for customer production workloads.
- Engage with top customers to understand and support their business needs and Data & AI strategy, collaborating with field engineering and sales as required.
- Partner with internal product engineering teams to improve Databricks products and make them more supportable.
- Maintain high reliability of the Databricks platform to help customers achieve their business goals.
Requirements
- Minimum 3+ years proven people leadership experience as a manager.
- 12+ years experience in the IT industry with a strong background in Software Engineering and specialization in Data Engineering, preferably with Big Data & Cloud experience.
- Experience leading teams in engineering, technical support, or consulting (customer‑facing support leadership preferred).
- Hands‑on experience at production scale in at least two of the following: Big Data (Spark, Hadoop, Kafka), Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence projects, Data Science/Streaming use cases.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills across distributed systems.
- Strong ownership mindset and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, startup‑like environment with evolving needs.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical field.
Nice to have
- Spark expertise is a big advantage.
- Customer‑facing support experience (highly desirable, though not required).
- Additional experience with Big Data and Cloud technologies beyond baseline requirements.
