Role overview
This role is for an expert performance engineer responsible for defining and validating the industry-leading performance of the FlashArray portfolio, with direct impact on customer adoption and satisfaction. The position is high-visibility and involves close collaboration with Product Management and Solutions Engineering to translate real-world customer needs into engineering goals, while extending capabilities into the cloud.
Responsibilities
- Establish comprehensive, next-generation performance benchmarking requirements and metrics for all FlashArray products across diverse platforms, ensuring a significant competitive edge in the market
- Provide technical direction and leadership to a team of highly motivated engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality, high-impact performance results
- Collaborate with Product Management, Solutions, and Sales Engineering to research and develop performance validation strategies that accurately model and confirm critical customer use cases and requirements, directly enhancing product readiness
- Oversee the deep-dive analysis of performance bottlenecks within the Linux storage and networking stack, identifying optimization opportunities that result in tangible gains in throughput and latency for users
Requirements
- Proven experience in designing and executing system-level performance testing for enterprise-grade solutions, including servers, storage (SAN protocols like iSCSI, NFS, SMB), and databases
- Expert-level proficiency with Linux systems, including in-depth knowledge of network configuration, storage stack, system settings, and common command-line utilities crucial for performance tuning
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and provide architectural direction to software and performance engineers, elevating the technical quality and impact of the entire team
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of translating complex performance data into actionable engineering improvements that lead to high-quality product releases
