Role overview
Okta is building trusted, neutral infrastructure to secure AI and identity, enabling organizations to safely embrace the new era. The Access Management Engineering Team is seeking a senior Java Software Engineer to develop high‑quality, secure, and performant authentication and authorization services, collaborate across functions, and help shape the product roadmap.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (QA, Product, Support, UX) for seamless integration.
- Follow best practices and contribute to technical designs, proposals, and architectural decisions.
- Develop high-quality, maintainable software components with comprehensive unit/functional tests.
- Participate in code reviews, providing feedback and ensuring adherence to coding standards and security best practices.
- Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the team.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience building Java-based web applications.
- Good understanding of design patterns, scalability patterns, security engineering, and object‑oriented principles.
- Experience working in fast‑paced software development teams leveraging continuous integration and deployment practices.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work across functions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 7 years of software development experience.
Nice to have
- Experience building anomaly detection systems or risk systems.
- Experience in cloud security, identity, and/or authentication protocols.
- Experience with one or more UI technologies such as Angular, ReactJS, Backbone, and Vue.
- Strong understanding of IAM protocols (FIDO, WebAuthn, SSO, SAML, OAuth) and identity management best practices.
