Role overview
Vercel is scaling fast, and the Senior Manager, Accounting will be a critical hire as we build out the financial infrastructure that supports our global growth and path to the public markets. You will own end‑to‑end accounting operations for Vercel's statutory accounting across current and future entities, from monthly close and statutory compliance to audit support and process improvement, working closely with the Head of Finance, India Center of Excellence, the US‑based Controller and global finance team.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end accounting operations for Vercel's statutory accounting across current and future entities, including monthly close, statutory compliance, audit support, and process improvement.
- Lead the full-cycle monthly and quarterly close for Vercel's current and future international entities, setting clear standards for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness in accordance with both local and US GAAP.
- Guide and support accounts payable and accounts receivable teams for correct accounting, manage payroll accounting and intercompany transactions in coordination with the global finance team.
- Own statutory compliance including preparation and supporting filing of FS, audits, TDS/TCS returns, and coordination with external auditors and tax advisors. Also coordinate with the corporate secretaries for various secretarial compliance.
- Partner with the US‑based Controller and CAO on the global close; prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Partner with SOX leader helping with design, implement, and evolve SOX‑aligned controls and internal accounting policies for the international entities as the business scales and execute these controls consistently.
- Lead close process improvements and accelerate the closing process; identify automation and AI opportunities, simplify workflows, and build scalable infrastructure for the finance function.
- Own the audit relationship for these international entities; preparing materials, answering auditor questions, and keeping audits running smoothly.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Legal, HR, FP&A, and Revenue Operations on new business initiatives with accounting implications.
- Mentor and develop junior accounting staff as the CoE team grows.
- Support the US GAAP Accounting for the US‑based entity(s) as and when required in different areas.
- Help the organization in pre and post merger and acquisition activities such as due diligence, integrating the acquired entities, supporting compliance, data migration, etc.
- Lead the new entities setup in different countries representing the accounting team and having these entities operational.
- Monitor changes in local GAAP, tax, regulatory, and corporate compliance requirements for international entities and ensure timely implementation in accounting processes.
- Support cash, banking, treasury accounting, and foreign exchange accounting matters for international entities, including bank reconciliations, revaluations, realized/unrealized FX, and cash reporting.
Requirements
- 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5+ years in managing a team.
- CA (Chartered Accountant) designation required.
- Deep expertise in technical accounting, including IFRS and US GAAP, with the ability to research, interpret, and apply local GAAP, statutory accounting requirements, tax regulations, and regulatory reporting obligations across multiple jurisdictions.
- Hands‑on experience with ERP systems.
- Proven track record managing or supporting Big 4 / top‑tier audits.
- Experience at a high‑growth technology or SaaS company; must have prior exposure to multi‑entity, international accounting structures.
- Process‑minded and curious, with experience leveraging AI, automation, and systems to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Clear, confident communicator who collaborates effectively across remote, cross‑functional, and cross‑cultural teams.
- Self‑starter who thrives in an async‑first environment with a high degree of ownership and accountability.
- Comfortable working in a builder environment where processes may be evolving, documentation may need to be created from scratch, and the role requires both strategic thinking and hands‑on execution.
Nice to have
- CPA or equivalent international qualification is a plus.
- NetSuite strongly preferred.
