Role overview

Okta’s Auth0 B2C Authentication domain provides a simple, secure, standards‑compliant and delightful authentication experience for both end users and developers. The team builds and evolves this platform using NodeJS, React, Go, Swift, Java/Kotlin, PostgreSQL and MongoDB on AWS and Azure, and seeks an engineer who leverages AI coding assistants to accelerate development while maintaining strict security standards.

Responsibilities

  • Be a part of a fast‑paced, agile team comprising engineers, a product manager and designer.
  • Design and develop features, APIs and fixes to handle current and future scale.
  • Act as a technical steward who views the codebase as your own product.
  • Proactively determine what is needed to make a project successful without waiting for perfect instructions.
  • Help customers have an awesome experience with our products.
  • Collaborate with the support team for customer questions.
  • Participate in on‑call rotations for troubleshooting production issues.
  • Lead team discussions, mentor other engineers to become senior, and improve the team’s productivity.
  • Leverage AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Google Gemini, Claude) to accelerate the software development lifecycle without compromising security.
  • Use LLMs for rapid prototyping, boilerplate generation, and complex refactoring.
  • Audit, debug, and secure AI‑generated code to ensure it meets strict authentication standards.
  • Generate comprehensive unit tests, document systems, and simulate edge‑case scenarios in authentication flows using AI.
  • Maintain technical integrity, architectural evolution, and long‑term scalability of the core product.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software development experience.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience creating public or internal APIs using NodeJS, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
  • Experience working with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL document databases (MongoDB) in a production environment.
  • Experience with mobile CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).
  • Autonomous with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Attention to detail and a focus on user experience.
  • Enjoy being part of a highly collaborative, remote‑friendly environment.

Nice to have

  • Experience building APIs for mobile apps and SDKs.
  • 1+ years of experience in the identity and access management (IAM) domain.
  • Experience with GoLang and Terraform.
  • Experience with front‑end frameworks such as ReactJS or VueJS.
  • Deep understanding of the NodeJS event loop.
  • Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code tools (e.g., Fastlane, Gradle, Snyk, or Terraform).
