Role overview
Toast is building the restaurant platform that helps restaurants adapt, take control, and get back to what they do best. As Toast enters its next phase of growth—defined by scale, complexity, and a new class of enterprise customers—the company is looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead the Partner Connect team. In this role, you'll guide a team delivering high-impact features that directly shape the experience of every Toast customer, owning the frameworks that manage integrations with Toast for all partners and customers and evolving the architecture to support increasingly complex new features and best-in-class monitoring at orders-of-magnitude scale.
Responsibilities
- Help drive the operational plan and strategic roadmap
- Lead the technical vision and execution for Toast's partner and integration platforms, driving business impact across the customer lifecycle
- Coach individual contributors for professional and technical development
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to help your teams get stuff done
- Mentor both new and experienced engineers in both technology and leadership
- Guide teams to build systems that will scale to the next order of magnitude of growth
- Track and ensure teams are delivering impact and outcomes in their work
- Drive knowledge sharing programs across the engineering organization
- Hire and develop new team members
- Operate effectively in a fast moving environment where experimentation, iteration, and platform stability must coexist
- Review design documents and pull requests
- Facilitate cross-team discussions
- Partner with product and architecture on roadmaps
- Support your team's growth through regular 1:1s and feedback
- Be responsible not just for what the team builds, but how it builds—driving clarity, improving execution, and maintaining a high bar for quality
- Work with the team to help build a feature rich, consistent, unified experience for anyone who wishes to connect to Toast's APIs, consume our data and integrate with restaurants
- Play a role in evolving our architecture to support ever more complex new features and best-in-class monitoring as we scale to orders of magnitude of our current size
- Connect day-to-day work to broader outcomes, helping your team understand the impact of what they're building while identifying opportunities to deliver more effectively
- Bring enough technical depth to provide clear direction and sound judgment, while still empowering engineers to take ownership
