Role overview

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) with knowledge of Oracle Administration to join our technology team. The ideal candidate will have 4–6 years of hands‑on experience in managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle environments, handling day‑to‑day database operations to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security of critical data infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Perform database maintenance activities including backups, restores, integrity checks, and index maintenance.
  • Monitor database health, performance, and capacity; troubleshoot alerts and incidents.
  • Support performance tuning by optimizing queries, stored procedures, and indexing strategies.
  • Manage database security, user access, roles, and permissions.
  • Apply patches, service packs, and follow security and compliance standards.
  • Support database‑related issues across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Participate in on‑call support for critical database issues when required.
  • Maintain database documentation, operational procedures, and change management records.
  • Validate backup and disaster recovery processes to ensure data recoverability.
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and patch Oracle databases.

Requirements

  • 4–6 years of experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator.
  • Hands‑on experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2014/2016/2017+) and basic Oracle DBA (12c/19c) administration.
  • Working knowledge of Linux/Unix environments.
  • Proficient in T‑SQL, database backups, restores, and recovery processes.
  • Experience with performance monitoring, query optimization, and index tuning.
  • Familiarity with SQL Server Agent and database automation.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Effective communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team environment.

Nice to have

  • Experience with SQL Server High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions such as Always On Availability Groups or Failover Cluster Instances.
  • Familiarity with PowerShell scripting for automating DBA tasks.
  • Experience with cloud database platforms (e.g., Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS).
