Role overview
Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Manager of Technical Documentation, you will work closely with a global network of engineers, product managers, and developer success professionals to understand real‑world use cases for identity and access management.
- You will create practical technical content that guides Okta's broad technical community, including application developers and integration partners to adopt, integrate, and deploy our solutions successfully.
- Design, develop, edit, and deliver accurate and effective developer documentation for Okta products.
- Work closely with Engineering, Product Management, QA, Support, and members of the Information Development team to ensure quality and accuracy of content.
- Follow our documentation guidelines to produce high quality documentation.
- Prioritize projects when working with multiple engineering teams.
- Collaborate with developers to review API documentation.
- Analyze customer feedback before and after delivering documentation to enhance content depth, quality, and relevance.
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years relevant experience writing documentation for Cloud or Enterprise products.
- Self‑starter who thrives in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience writing SDK, CLI, or developer tools documentation.
- Experience writing developer documentation and release notes.
- Experience with Markdown, Visual Studio Code, Acrolinx, and source code control tools such as Git and GitHub.
- Familiarity working with Jira and Confluence.
- Good collaboration skills with the writers and cross‑functional teams.
Nice to have
- Bachelor’s degree or certificate in Technical Writing is preferred.
- Strong ability to understand the application of security products in the real world and produce use case‑based content.
- Knowledge of Okta or similar identity and access management solutions.
- Experience with DITA, OpenAPI, and any API management and publishing platform.
- Experience working in an Agile environment.
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Technical Communications, or a related technical field.
