Role overview
As a Solutions Architect at Databricks, you will shape the future of the Data & AI landscape by working with world‑leading data engineering and data science teams. You will act as a technical advisor to the sales team, advocate for customers with the product team, and help customers achieve data‑driven outcomes using the Databricks Lakehouse Platform, while growing as a leader in big data, analytics, data engineering, and data science.
Responsibilities
- Shape the future of the Data & AI landscape by working with sophisticated data engineering and data science teams.
- Serve as a technical advisor internally to the sales team and an advocate for customers with the product team.
- Help customers achieve tangible data‑driven outcomes through the Databricks Lakehouse Platform and integrate the platform into enterprise ecosystems.
- Collaborate with strategic prospects and customers, product, and engineering to drive the Databricks roadmap forward.
- Develop architectures and solutions using the Databricks platform and guide customers through the competitive landscape, best practices, and implementation.
- Develop technical champions among customers.
- Partner with the sales team to provide technical leadership and help customers understand how Databricks can solve their business problems.
- Work directly with the sales team to develop a book of business, define account strategies, and execute those strategies.
- Consult on Big Data architectures, implement proof‑of‑concepts for strategic projects spanning data engineering, data science, machine learning, and SQL analysis workflows.
- Validate integrations with cloud services, home‑grown tools, and third‑party applications.
- Collaborate with fellow Solutions Architects to support each other and users.
- Become an expert in, promote, and recruit contributors for Databricks‑inspired open‑source projects (Spark, Delta Lake, and MLflow) across the developer community.
Requirements
- 8+ years in a data engineering, data science, technical architecture, or similar pre‑sales/consulting role.
- 8+ years of experience with Big Data technologies, including Apache Spark™, AI, Data Science, Data Engineering, Hadoop, Cassandra, and others.
- Strong consulting / customer‑facing experience, working with external clients across a variety of industry markets.
- Coding experience in Python, R, Java, Apache Spark™ or Scala.
- Experience building distributed data systems.
- Experience building solutions with public cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Available to travel to customers in your region.
