Role overview
Rippling provides a unified platform for businesses to manage HR, IT, and Finance, automating the employee lifecycle from payroll to device management. The US Tax Operations team resolves tax notices and manages filings and payments to prevent them. The Systems Lead will bring engineering discipline to US Tax Operations, which currently utilizes various AI-assisted tools and informal automations. This role is responsible for evaluating existing tools, fixing or replacing unreliable ones, and owning the department's systems and data infrastructure to ensure accuracy and scalability.
Responsibilities
- Own the technical systems and data infrastructure behind US Tax Operations reporting, automation, and workflow tools.
- Evaluate the AI-assisted and automated tools currently being built informally across the team, and decide what's accurate and durable versus what needs to be rebuilt.
- Build dashboards, data pipelines, and reporting that give managers and leadership reliable, self-service visibility into volume, performance, and quality.
- Partner directly with managers to find where automation and AI tooling can reduce manual work, and build well-governed solutions instead of one-off scripts.
- Bring technical standards and review discipline to an organization that hasn't had a dedicated technical owner before.
Requirements
- Hands-on proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience on a modern data platform such as Snowflake or Databricks.
- Experience building dashboards and reporting with a BI tool such as Power BI or equivalent.
- Comfortable evaluating and working with AI-assisted tooling and automation platforms.
- 3-6 years of relevant experience spanning project-level execution to technical build.
- Ability to work independently, assess partially built tools critically, and bring a systems-thinking, engineering-minded approach to an operations environment.

- Experience in an operations, support, or shared-services environment.
- Experience introducing technical standards or governance to a team that didn't previously have them.
