Key highlights
- Top-of-market salary
- 10+ years of relevant engineering experience
- Remote with at least four hours overlap with Pacific or IST
- Proficient day-to-day with CLI-based AI coding tools such as Claude Code
- Scoped, deliverable-based contract with path to full-time role
- Any tool that unblocks you is purchased
Role overview
logcat.ai builds agentic systems for Linux and Android devices, ingesting diagnostic artifacts to help device makers diagnose, remediate, test, and author features across their OS stack. In this role, you will build the robotics substrate adapter alongside a lighthouse ROS team to test whether the core generalizes to a substrate outside the company's existing expertise, under a scoped, deliverable-based contract with a path to a full-time role.
Responsibilities
- Build the robotics substrate adapter alongside a lighthouse ROS team.
- Ingest and reason over robotics artifacts: rosbags (including MCAP), DDS discovery and QoS logs, ros2_control / Nav2 / MoveIt failures.
- Diagnose Jetson / L4T boot and platform issues.
- Handle the spatial and timing layer: TF2, sensor calibration, time synchronization.
Requirements
- 10+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- ROS 2 in production, including DDS internals (Fast DDS / Cyclone DDS), discovery, and QoS behavior.
- ros2_control, Nav2, or MoveIt.
- Robotics bringup on Jetson / L4T.
- TF2 and multi-sensor time-sync / calibration.
- Proficient in day-to-day work with CLI-based AI coding tools like Claude Code (or an equivalent).
Nice to have
- Real-time Linux (PREEMPT_RT).
- ros2_tracing / LTTng.
- End-to-end robot bringup done solo.
- Multi-sensor platform integration.
Benefits
- A front seat as we scale: customer calls, the roadmap, the pipeline, and how the company is actually doing; what you build carries your name on it, and scope grows faster than the org chart.
- Top-of-market salary, with real ownership because you are early enough; the full picture is walked through on the first call.
- AI used for everything—writing code, reviewing it, research, ops, internal tooling—and any tool that unblocks you is purchased.
- Your calls to make from week one: architecture, tooling, and how the work gets done.
- Hands-on founders: you own decisions but do not make them alone.
- A lean, senior, kind team that shares knowledge and helps before being asked.
Additional details
- logcat.ai is the AI engineering layer for the operating-system stack: agentic systems for Linux and Android devices; ingests diagnostic artifacts a device emits (bugreports, logcat, dmesg, modem traces, ramdumps, perfetto, pcap, CAN); helps device makers diagnose, remediate, test, and author features across their OS stack, grounded in their own BSP. Think Datadog and Cursor combined for the OS layer.
- VC-backed startup with a small, senior team; you work directly with the founders.
- Recently raised a $2.55M pre-seed; product is scaling and customer list is growing, but still small enough that everyone shapes what comes next, including you.
- This is the test of whether the core generalizes to a substrate outside our existing expertise, so scope is tight and outcome-driven.
- This is a scoped, deliverable-based contract with a path to a full-time role.
- Remote, with at least four hours of overlap with Pacific or IST; hours are not tracked. Overlap is requested because much work is debugging together in real time. If you are in Seattle or Bengaluru, they would like to meet in person now and then, but it is not a requirement.
- Screening call with Head of People & Business Operations; technical conversation with Co-founder/Head of Engineering; technical exercise with Co-founder/Head of Engineering; final conversation with CEO; references, then offer.
- In your application, tell us what you'd own here, and the hardest thing you've shipped in this domain.
