Role overview

Velocix develops market-leading video delivery solutions used by telecommunications providers, broadcasters, and streaming platforms worldwide. As part of our global Engineering organization, you will help ensure the quality, scalability, reliability, and performance of our products through test automation, performance engineering, tooling, and continuous quality practices. This role is suitable for engineers across a range of experience levels, from early-career professionals developing automation expertise to experienced engineers leading quality and performance initiatives across complex distributed systems.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites.
Automate functional, regression, integration, system, and end-to-end testing.
Develop reusable automation libraries, utilities, mock services, and simulators.
Ensure appropriate automation coverage for new features and releases.
Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
Improve testing efficiency, reliability, and maintainability.
Design and execute load, stress, endurance, scalability, and capacity tests.
Create realistic workload and traffic simulations.
Analyze performance metrics and identify system bottlenecks.
Investigate application, infrastructure, and network behaviour under load.
Support performance benchmarking and system optimization initiatives.
Produce performance reports and recommendations.
Develop internal testing tools and frameworks using Python and related technologies.
Support debugging and root-cause analysis by analysing logs, metrics, and system behaviour.
Build utilities to improve testing efficiency and engineering productivity.
Collaborate with software engineers to improve testability and observability.
Participate in Agile and Scrum ceremonies.
Work closely with Software Engineers, Architects, DevOps Engineers, Product Owners, and other Quality Engineers.
Review automation solutions and testing approaches.
Contribute to release validation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Share knowledge and mentor team members where appropriate.

Requirements

Experience with Test Automation Frameworks, Functional Testing, Regression Testing, API Testing, Integration Testing, and End-to-End Testing.
Experience with tools such as Robot Framework, PyTest, Selenium, Playwright, or similar automation technologies.
Experience with Apache JMeter, Load Testing, Stress Testing, Endurance Testing, Scalability Testing, and Capacity Planning.
Experience with Python (preferred), Shell Scripting.
Knowledge of Software Development Principles, Debugging Techniques, and Automation Development.
Linux administration and troubleshooting experience.
Log analysis and system diagnostics.
Command-line proficiency.
Experience with REST APIs, HTTP / HTTPS, SQL Databases, and NoSQL Databases.
Experience with Git / GitLab, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and Automated testing pipelines.
Exposure to AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, and Cloud-native applications.
Mid-level engineers: Experience developing automated tests and analysing system behaviour; Ability to independently investigate issues and improve coverage; Experience with CI/CD and Agile development practices.
Senior engineers: Experience defining automation and performance testing strategies; Ability to mentor engineers and improve engineering practices; Expertise in test architecture, performance analysis, and quality engineering; Ability to influence quality, reliability, and scalability decisions across teams.

Nice to have

Exposure to tools such as Spirent Avalanche or similar solutions is desirable.
Java or JavaScript (beneficial)
Experience in one or more of the following areas: Video streaming platforms, OTT services, Content Delivery Networks (CDN), Telecommunications, Media technology, Distributed systems, Cloud platforms.
Knowledge of video streaming protocols and traffic patterns is highly desirable.
