Role overview
As a Platform Software Engineer at YLD, you will join a client team to own cloud access and identity management along with a large portion of their infrastructure‑as‑code. You’ll control permissions across their cloud estate, stand up new tooling, and manage shared infrastructure with careful change management, governance, and support for other teams.
Responsibilities
- Own cloud access and identity management for the client’s cloud estate.
- Own a large portion of the client’s infrastructure‑as‑code.
- Control who and what can do what across the cloud estate.
- Stand up newer tooling that sits alongside the cloud infrastructure.
- Perform careful change management and governance for shared infrastructure.
- Unblock other teams by providing reliable shared infrastructure.
- Use AI tools to augment work, applying sound judgement to adopt emerging technologies that add value.
- Ensure clean engineering practices, including testing and reliability.
Requirements
- Strong, hands‑on AWS experience, particularly IAM, IAM Identity Center / SSO, and AWS Organizations (essential).
- Terraform (essential).
- Experience running shared, high‑blast‑radius infrastructure.
- GitHub Actions for CI/CD, including OIDC federation to cloud providers.
- Familiarity with Datadog, CloudWatch, or similar tooling.
- Some Python or JavaScript for scripting.
- Strong focus on clean engineering practices, including testing and reliability.
Nice to have
- Terragrunt (strongly preferred).
- Multi‑cloud experience.
- Use of AI tools to augment work (beyond basic responsibilities).
