Role overview
IDT is seeking a highly motivated Database Engineer to join their database services team. The ideal candidate will perform database analysis, design, and administration functions to support strategic projects, with a focus on MongoDB, MySQL, Couchbase, and PostgreSQL technologies. The role requires strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills, along with experience in database architecture, high availability solutions, and Amazon RDS. The candidate must be self-driven, able to work in a dynamic environment, and willing to participate in 24/7 on-call support.
Responsibilities
- Perform database analysis, design, and administration functions
- Provision new MongoDB clusters
- Tune replication
- Handle backup and recovery
- Deploy software patches
- Manage schema changes
- Collaborate with developers on collection, index, and SQL query design
- Provide 24/7 support
- Participate in the DBA on-call rotation
Requirements
- Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science or equivalent
- Minimum of 8-10 years of DBA experience
- Deep experience with MongoDB / MySQL / PostgreSQL databases
- Experience with databases hosted on Linux
- Database architecture and high availability solutions
- Amazon RDS platform
- Troubleshooting application issues and database object design
Nice to have
- Prior experience with System / Network administration
- Oracle / CouchBase
- Deep expertise on the MongoDB platform
