The company seeks a Senior System Software Engineer for the Compute System software team to architect and design user‑mode drivers that interact with GPUs, DLAs, and other Tegra compute engines, while advancing functional safety software for critical automotive applications.
Responsibilities
- Involved in the definition, architectural design, analysis, and development of groundbreaking functional safety software, shaping the future of parallel computation on GPUs as well as DLAs.
- Modify complex software designed for diverse domains and fortify it to meet standards vital for deployment in critical automotive sectors, while successfully acquiring safety certification.
- Participate in development of proprietary and open computing standards and contribute to the development of next‑generation GPUs and DLAs in collaboration with architecture and hardware engineers at NVIDIA.
- Inculcate a culture of high‑quality software development in the team and mentor other engineers.
Requirements
- BS/MS degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
- Passionate about high‑quality software engineering and a desire to contribute towards creating better software.
- Fair understanding of computer architecture and OS fundamentals.
- 5+ years of proven experience in complex software development, design, and analysis.
- Strong teammate; self‑motivated with good demeanor.
- A strong desire to learn, grow and create.
Nice to have
- Background with parallel programming, particularly in CUDA, OpenCL, or RenderScript.
- Previous experience working on deep learning frameworks including PyTorch, TensorFlow, or ONNX.
- Prior experience working on special‑purpose or fixed‑function hardware such as DLA, NPU, ISP, or DSP.
- Prior experience developing safety‑critical software, or hardening and taking complex software through software audits.
- Hands‑on background with software safety analyses such as FMEA, FTA, ETA, HAZOP, DFA/coexistence analysis, freedom‑from‑interference, etc.
