Role overview
Hitachi Energy India Development Centre (IDC) is a research and development facility with around 500 R&D engineers, specialists, and experts focused on creating and sustaining digital solutions, new products, and technology—including product integration, testing, cybersecurity, and certification. Located in Chennai and Bangalore, IDC collaborates with Hitachi Energy R&D and research centers across more than 15 locations in 12 countries, and is looking to expand its R&D teams with engineers and managers to advance technology in power system protection and control.
Responsibilities
- Ownership of the main application technology to cover protection and control of the entire power system field.
- Involved and drive toward a solution for application issues or customer related issues.
- Review technical descriptions, user documentation and ensure quality is granted.
- Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Requirements
- Required Master or PhD degree in a science discipline.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience.
- Experience with power system protection and control application functions, including programming and C-language coding.
- Knowledge of IEC standards and standardization.
- MATLAB/Simulink knowledge.
- Innovative, analytic, self‑driven with high ability to prioritize and deliver results on time.
- Result‑oriented with a high sense of quality awareness; continuously learns and develops professional expertise.
- Takes personal responsibility for commitments and initiatives and acts with confidence.
