Role overview
Arango delivers a unified, natively multimodel contextual data platform that powers AI agents, assistants, and applications. As a Frontend Engineer (d/m/w), you will be responsible for developing the UIs of the ArangoDB open-source database and Arango Data Platform, focusing on user-centric design for developers, DB engineers, and AI/data teams.
Responsibilities
- Build new features for the Arango Data Platform UI, and contribute to the ArangoDB UI, used daily by developers, database engineers and AI/data teams.
- Work across a wide range of product areas, including graph visualization and data-exploration, query and developer tooling/UIs, AI-powered experiences such as agent and GraphRAG interfaces and dashboards.
- Modernize our frontend by migrating legacy code to React and Typescript.
- Partner with designers to turn Figma designs and prototypes into polished, intuitive UIs, bringing your own UX judgment to the table.
- Take growing ownership of features over time, from shaping requirements to shipping and iterating on them.
- Work closely with backend and AI/ML engineers to integrate APIs, making sure the UI reflects what the platform can do.
Requirements
- 3+ years of relevant work experience: developing the frontend with a strong understanding of JavaScript, React, TypeScript, HTML, CSS.
- Basic understanding of BackboneJS, jQuery.
- Good UX comprehension and understanding.
- Ability to understand API based communication with a backend to ensure reliable frontend feature development.
- Ability to dig through complex code and provide reasonable solutions.
- Good communication and articulation skills to portray your ideas and thought processes.
- Willingness to take feature/product ownership and drive the development process.
Nice to have
- Understanding of prototyping tools like Figma or Adobe Experience Design
- Unit testing and E2E testing experience
- Open source contribution
- Database knowledge - ArangoDB / SQL / NOSQL
- Tailwind CSS / shadcn/ui
- Agentic workflow management like claude code or codex
