Role overview
Databricks is seeking a senior leader to run its Connect organization in India, driving a strategic initiative that provides ready‑to‑use, point‑and‑click data ingestion connectors across a broad set of sources. The role will embed Connect capabilities into all Databricks surfaces (Dashboards, Notebooks, SQL, AI) and requires strong cross‑functional collaboration across product, engineering, and customers.
Responsibilities
- Solve real business needs at a large scale by applying software engineering expertise.
- Ensure consistent delivery against milestones and strong alignment with the field, working "two‑in‑a‑box" with product leadership.
- Evolve organizational structure to align with long‑term initiatives, building strong "5 ingredient" teams with good communications architecture.
- Manage technical debt, including long‑term technical architecture decisions and balance product roadmap.
- Lead and participate in technical, product, and design discussions.
- Build, manage, and operate highly scalable services in the cloud.
- Grow leaders on the team by providing coaching, mentorship, and growth opportunities.
- Work closely with other product teams to embed Connect into Databricks surfaces such as Dashboards, Notebooks, SQL, and AI.
- Lead the Connect organization in India, overseeing strategy, execution, and team development.
- Collaborate effectively across time zones and organizational boundaries.
Requirements
- 10+ years of industry experience building and supporting large‑scale distributed systems.
- Experience building, growing, and managing high‑performance teams.
- Ability to attract and hire engineers who meet the Databricks hiring principles.
- Existing experience building and running cloud platforms, or demonstrated ability to quickly learn new concepts in the SaaS space (technical background and fast learner).
- Experience working cross‑functionally with product management and directly with customers; ability to deeply understand product and customer personas.
