IDT is looking for a highly motivated and ambitious Database Engineer to join their database services team. The individual in this role will perform database analysis, design, and administration functions to deliver on strategic projects aligned with organizational goals. The role involves full-lifecycle database administration, including provisioning, tuning, backup and recovery, patch deployment, schema management, and collaboration with developers, along with 24/7 support and on-call rotation.
Responsibilities
- Perform database analysis, design, and administration functions to deliver on strategic projects specific to organizational goals
- Provide full-lifecycle database administration, ranging from provisioning new MongoDB clusters to tuning replication
- Handle backup and recovery processes
- Deploy software patches
- Manage schema changes
- Collaborate with developers on collection, index, and SQL query design
- Provide 24/7 support and participate in the DBA on-call rotation
Requirements
- Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science or equivalent
- Minimum of 8-10 years of DBA experience
- Deep experience with MongoDB / MySQL / PostgreSQL databases
- Experience with databases hosted on Linux
- Database architecture and high availability solutions
- Experience with the Amazon RDS platform
- Troubleshooting application issues and database object design
- Self-motivated with the ability to work closely with others in a team environment
- Ability to define, plan, and implement long-term goals and tasks in support of IDT's enterprise and technology organization charter
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, multitasking, troubleshooting skills, logical thinking, and attention to detail
Nice to have
- Prior experience with System / Network administration
- Experience with Oracle / CouchBase
- Deep expertise on the MongoDB platform (even without extensive Oracle / MySQL exposure)
