We are seeking highly skilled Microsoft SQL server administrators responsible for providing L3 level production support for large SQL server database environment supporting critical business applications. The role focuses on ensuring high availability, performance, and stability of database systems. The position may also be involved in database migration and transformation initiatives, requiring strong hands-on skills in SQL server administration, HA/DR technologies, and incident/problem management.
Responsibilities
- Database Migration: Plan, execute, and validate complex database migrations, including version upgrades, on premises to cloud, and consolidation projects.
- Capacity Planning: Monitor database growth trends and forecast future capacity requirements for storage, CPU, and memory.
- Automation: Develop and maintain scripts (T-SQL, PowerShell, Python) to automate routine administrative tasks, monitoring, and deployments.
- Database Management: Install, configure, manage, monitor, and maintain SQL Server instances (specifically 2016 and newer and Azure SQL) across development, testing, and production environments.
- Performance Tuning & Optimization: Proactively monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks (CPU, Memory, I/O), and implement tuning solutions.
- High Availability & Disaster Recovery (HA/DR): Design, implement, and manage robust HA/DR solutions, including Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Replication, and backup/recovery strategies.
- Security: Implement and enforce database security policies, manage user access and permissions, conduct regular security audits, and address vulnerabilities.
- Troubleshooting: Provide expert-level troubleshooting for database-related issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions swiftly.
- Fabric & Cloud: Provide L3-level operational and engineering support for Microsoft Fabric, alongside administration and optimization of the Power BI platform and Microsoft Azure data services, including Azure Data Factory (ADF), ETL workflows, pipeline orchestration, and compute resource management.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.
Requirements
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience (mandatory).
- Must provide L3 level production support for large SQL server database environments supporting critical business applications.
- Must have strong hands‑on skills in SQL Server administration, HA/DR technologies, and incident/problem management.
- Must be able to plan, execute, and validate complex database migrations.
- Must be able to develop and maintain automation scripts using T‑SQL, PowerShell, and Python.
- Must be able to design, implement, and manage HA/DR solutions (Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Replication, backup/recovery).
- Must be able to enforce database security policies, manage user access, and conduct security audits.
- Must be able to troubleshoot database issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Must be able to support Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Azure Data Factory, ETL workflows, pipeline orchestration, and compute resource management.
Nice to have
- Microsoft certifications: SQL 2016 and newer/Azure SQL.
- Proficiency with Power BI Platform.
- Experience in DevOps tools like TSQL, Jenkins, Ansible.
- Azure certification is a plus.
