Role Description The Design Engineering Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Bengaluru, responsible for leading the design engineering team and driving the development of innovative rigid packaging solutions. Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing concept development, design validation, and optimization of mechanical and electrical aspects of packaging systems. The role involves coordinating cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure designs are feasible, cost-effective, and aligned with sustainability and performance targets. The Design Engineering Manager will mentor engineers, manage project timelines and resources, implement best practices in design processes, and support continuous improvement initiatives and technical problem-solving on the shop floor. This position also contributes to strategic decisions on technology adoption and design standards to maintain MTL’s leadership in packaging innovation. Qualifications Strong expertise in Design Engineering, including concept development, CAD tools, and design for manufacturability. Proficiency in Engineering Management, covering team leadership, project management, and cross-functional coordination. Solid foundation in Electrical Engineering and Analog design relevant to packaging machinery, control systems, or sensor integration. Robust Mechanical Engineering skills, including structural analysis, material selection, and packaging system design. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline. Experience in rigid packaging, consumer goods, or industrial product design is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop engineering teams, with strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Familiarity with sustainability-focused design, quality standards, and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) is an advantage.
