We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Software Engineer – Platform Engineering to join our engineering organization. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain the cloud platform capabilities that empower our product engineering teams to develop, deploy, and operate highly scalable applications on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). You will work closely with software engineers to enhance deployment automation, cloud-native infrastructure, application reliability, developer productivity, and operational excellence. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving infrastructure-related engineering challenges while remaining embedded within a software engineering organization.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain cloud-native application platforms on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
- Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines to automate application build, testing, deployment, and release processes.
- Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes (Oracle Kubernetes Engine - OKE).
- Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform and automation frameworks.
- Build deployment automation, reusable platform components, and self-service engineering capabilities.
- Improve deployment reliability through automated rollbacks, deployment validation, and release orchestration.
- Collaborate with software engineering teams to troubleshoot production issues and improve platform stability.
- Monitor application health, infrastructure performance, and availability using observability platforms such as Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, and OpenTelemetry.
- Implement cloud security best practices, secrets management, SSL certificate management, and access controls.
- Optimize cloud infrastructure utilization, scalability, availability, and operational costs.
- Automate operational tasks using Python, Node.js, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
- Support production releases, incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous service improvements.
- Document platform architecture, deployment standards, operational runbooks, and engineering best practices.
- Contribute to engineering standards, cloud-native architecture, and platform modernization initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in Software Engineering, Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
- Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
- Experience deploying and managing Kubernetes clusters, preferably Oracle Kubernetes Engine (OKE).
- Strong experience with Docker and containerized application deployments.
- Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar automation platforms.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
- Strong Linux administration and shell scripting experience.
- Proficiency in Python or Node.js for automation, deployment tooling, and operational scripting.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts including DNS, Load Balancers, SSL/TLS, firewalls, and cloud networking.
- Experience working with Git and modern software development workflows.
- Experience troubleshooting distributed applications and production environments.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with Helm Charts.
- Experience with Cloudflare, including CDN, DNS, WAF, Load Balancing, and Tunnel configurations.
- Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, and OpenTelemetry.
- Experience implementing GitOps practices using tools such as ArgoCD.
- Familiarity with microservices and cloud-native application architecture.
- Experience with security scanning, vulnerability management, and infrastructure hardening.
- Knowledge of cloud cost optimization and resource utilization strategies.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum software development environments.
- Hands-on experience with Software Defined Networking (SDN) concepts.
- Experience with enterprise virtualization and container platforms such as Proxmox, OKD/OpenShift, or similar technologies.
