A Junior DevOps Engineer at our healthcare startup supports the reliability, security, and scalability of the cloud infrastructure that runs production healthcare applications. This role is hands‑on and ideal for an engineer with foundational experience in cloud and infrastructure‑as‑code who wants to grow in a regulated, high‑impact environment.
Responsibilities
- Support and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS
- Use Terraform to provision and manage infrastructure as code
- Assist with CI/CD pipelines for application deployments
- Monitor system performance, availability, alerts, logs, and events
- Help implement security best practices (IAM, least privilege, logging)
- Troubleshoot infrastructure and deployment issues
- Work closely with engineering and IT teams to support production systems
- Document security controls, infrastructure, runbooks, and operational procedures
Requirements
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in DevOps, Cloud, or Systems Engineering
- Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC)
- Working knowledge of Terraform
- Familiarity with Linux and basic networking concepts
- Understanding of CI/CD concepts and Git-based workflows
- Scripting experience (Bash, Python)
- Familiarity with HIPAA, SOC 2, or regulated environments
Nice to have
- Strong desire to learn and take ownership
- Exposure to containerization (Docker, ECS, or EKS)
- Experience with monitoring/logging tools (CloudWatch, Datadog, Prometheus)
- Familiarity with security tooling (AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, WAF)
- Experience with CI/CD security or infrastructure scanning
- Ability to work remotely and communicate asynchronously via Slack and email, along with thriving in virtual meetings
- A posture towards execution - a true operator willing to both develop the strategy and execute it.
