The role of Software Engineer I involves working on Deposit and Shared Services initiatives, leveraging the Pega Platform to drive enterprise-scale workflow development and implementation. The position collaborates with business and technology stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and innovative solutions while establishing technical standards and mentoring teams.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of actions that evaluate and improve department systems, processes, and applications
  • Utilizes programming specifications to construct modules, develop testing methods, and design materials
  • Provides new feature time estimates for system changes and assists in implementing modifications
  • Provides technical support to production systems by addressing reported issues, anticipating maintenance requirements, and ensuring functionality for end user needs
  • Drafts documentation to be used for system, end user, and operational purposes, including technical specifications and application designs
  • Responsible for involvement in the software development life cycle including the creation, enhancement, implementation, and evaluation of software
  • Serves as a technical resource for management, associates, and business units
  • Provides 24/7 support during on-call rotations for critical Production issues
  • Analyze, code, test, and implement in coordination with management, associates, and end users while following the Enterprise SDLC
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and innovative solutions
  • Establish technical standards and mentor development teams
  • Provide technical guidance, estimation of efforts, and decide upon optimal technology solutions to achieve business needs
  • Provide day-to-day application support
  • Navigate differing levels of ambiguity/unknowns
  • Develop code and effectively oversee distributed development team members
  • Utilize effective communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to identify, communicate, and resolve issues, opportunities, or problems to maximize IT and Business needs

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of experience in Software application development and maintenance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Pega Certified System Architect (CSA) certification
  • At least 3 years of in-depth hands-on application development experience in Pega PRPC v6.x/v7.x and Pega banking/Insurance frameworks
  • Hands-on experience with Pega AI, including GenAI, Knowledge Buddy, Agentic AI, and AI-powered workflow capabilities
  • Experience in Pega Infinity architecture, Case Management, Decisioning, and BPM
  • Experience integrating Pega with enterprise applications using REST APIs, Kafka, JMS, SOAP, and microservices
  • Strong knowledge of Java, JSP, J2EE, XML, and EJB
  • Experience with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and AngularJS
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Ability to debug and develop rules like Data Transforms and declarative rules, class structures, and application frameworks within Pega
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to move at a rapid rate of execution while maintaining short- and long-term strategic view
  • Ability to collaborate with team members

Nice to have

  • Experience in the Banking and Finance Industry
  • Experience with Okta; SQL Scripting
  • Experience with ServiceNow or other information technology ticketing system
  • Ability to build strong collaborative and productive relationships
  • In-depth knowledge of System Life Cycle Development methodology (Waterfall and Agile)
