The DevOps Engineer II is a mid-level engineering position responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting automation, deployment, monitoring, and operational reliability across cloud and hosted application environments. This role partners closely with software engineering, site reliability, security, and infrastructure teams to improve continuous integration and continuous delivery processes, infrastructure automation, platform operations, and service resilience. The successful candidate will drive platform reliability and efficiency by applying AI across CI/CD, observability, incident response, and infrastructure operations, while contributing to AI-assisted operations and MCP (Model Context Protocol) tools.
Responsibilities
- Own and support software delivery activities, including build, deployment, release, and environment management processes across multiple applications and infrastructure environments.
- Design, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines used to build, test, secure, and deploy applications with greater efficiency and consistency.
- Provision, configure, and maintain infrastructure in cloud and hosted environments using automation and infrastructure as code practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application, deployment, infrastructure, and environment issues with limited supervision, including participation in incident response and root cause analysis.
- Monitor system health, review logs and telemetry, and implement improvements in reliability, performance, scalability, and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to standardization of engineering practices, reusable automation, deployment patterns, and operational runbooks.
- Collaborate across engineering, support, operations, and security teams to resolve issues, support releases, and improve platform and delivery processes.
- Apply established security, compliance, and operational standards in all engineering activities and identify opportunities to strengthen controls and reduce risk.
- Participate in operational support and on-call activities, and take ownership of assigned issues through resolution and follow-through.
- Provide guidance to more junior engineers through knowledge sharing, documentation, and day-to-day technical collaboration.
- Responsible for Granicus information security by appropriately preserving the Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability (CIA) of Granicus information assets in accordance with the company's information security program.
- Responsible for ensuring the data privacy of employees and customers, their data, as well as taking all required privacy training in a timely manner, in accordance with company policies.
Requirements
- 2+ years DevOps, Software Engineering or Operations support
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Professional experience in DevOps, platform engineering, systems engineering, cloud infrastructure, or a related engineering discipline.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of DevOps concepts, including CI/CD, automation, infrastructure as code, cloud operations, release management, and system reliability.
- Experience with Linux and/or Windows administration, scripting, source control, cloud platforms, and troubleshooting in production or pre-production environments.
- Practical experience with containers, infrastructure as code, monitoring, logging, and operational support processes.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and projects, manage competing priorities, and deliver reliable results in a fast-paced engineering environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical teams while clearly communicating on technical issues, risks, and recommendations.
- Demonstrated accountability, sound judgment, attention to detail, and commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Ability to use approved AI-enabled tools responsibly to improve productivity, support troubleshooting, enhance documentation, and assist engineering workflows.
Nice to have
- Curiosity about applying AI tools responsibly in infrastructure engineering to improve triage, diagnostics, documentation, operational analysis, and day-to-day workflow efficiency.
- Interest in developing, extending, and using MCP (Model Context Protocol) tools, APIs, and associated skills.
- Familiarity with AIOps concepts such as alert correlation, anomaly detection, event enrichment, and assisted root cause analysis in monitoring- and operations-heavy environments.
- Initiative in identifying and implementing opportunities to build AI-driven scripts, automate operational tasks, and improve engineering workflows through practical, hands-on use of AI technologies.
- Experience or willingness to learn and adapt to using Python (or similar) to build operational tools with guardrails.
