As a Software Development Manager, you will lead a multidisciplinary delivery team, driving accountability, translating strategy into actionable plans, and fostering an execution culture grounded in Agile and Kanban principles. You will play a key role in Petal’s AI transformation, helping teams adopt new ways of working while delivering high-quality software aligned with product strategy in a fast-growing SaaS environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support a multidisciplinary delivery team (typically 8–12 people) by setting direction, providing feedback, and fostering accountability.
- Plan and oversee delivery execution, ensuring that the team has clear objectives, realistic timelines, and effective prioritization of work.
- Collaborate closely with Product Management and Architecture to align on vision, define scope, and ensure solutions meet both functional and technical expectations.
- Identify and remove delivery blockers, optimizing the team’s workflow, tools, and processes to enable consistent execution.
- Coach team members on problem-solving, communication, and professional growth, while cultivating a healthy, high-performing team culture.
- Maintain visibility on quality and performance metrics, ensuring continuous improvement in delivery velocity, product quality, and predictability.
- Act as a thought partner to Product and Architecture, balancing technical feasibility, customer value, and business impact.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in software development or engineering-related roles, including at least 4 years in team leadership or management.
- Proven track record managing end-to-end software delivery in a fast-paced SaaS or product organization.
- Strong understanding of delivery and quality management principles, from planning and estimation to testing and deployment.
- A balanced skillset combining people management, project execution, and technical literacy: ability to engage confidently with developers, QA, and cross-functional partners.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between technical and business perspectives.
- A mindset rooted in continuous improvement, transparency, and empowerment.
